Okay, so today in class I began talking about a new wave restaurant that makes food into visual and taste oriented art. Here is a website that has several of these types of restaurant. I really hope to eat at one of these one day. :)

Tongue Twisters
So, in accomplishing my last project, we changed our original thought of displaying self-harm. Our original thoughts consisted of " Let's hang you upside down for an hour." or " Lets get you really drunk at 8:30 in the morning and put you through a series of tests. These series of tests consisted of bouncing a ball, answering questions, and tongue twisters. After a warning about bodily harm and inspiration from our in class project, we decided to do audio and video, but not show it to each other until finished. I recorded people saying tongue twisters while intoxicated in different ways. The end result was a film and video set that is quite overwhelming and entrancing at the same time. I think it was a success.

Awesome Video Link ::click::
So, a few classes ago we were talking about Meredith Monk and her work. Some people seemed to love her process and her sound, while others seemed to hate it. Not knowing her work, I went to the sensational You- Tube! Haha! Found! Not only did I find her work, I found this awesome video. It's a series by Peter Greenway. I had seen this once before on PBS, but didn't know who it was. You can see that Meredith monk is one of the vocalists. While her personal work is not exactly my taste, I love this video.

System, conciousness and what?
Questions to answer later...
Does the idea of consciousness make it hard for one to think?
How do you think without truly thinking about one's actions?
Are we just militaristic machines to our government?
Does the world only end when your consciousness ceases?
Can I reprogram my own consciousness?
What are my morals based on?
Does religion and government always to have to be involved in creating my morals?
What elitest aesthetic am I part of?
Do people realize how difficult it is to put a production together?
Why do we need to understand the how?
If the teacher does not know then how should the student?

My thoughts on project 2
So, the second project that was "assigned" was the mark project. Basically the same instructions from the first project, except replacing sound with mark. When thinking about this project, Bran and I wanted to do something that we could not control what type of mark would be made. In the end, we came up with food being smeared on a napkin, and how no one ever considers this mark art. So from there, we decided to make the food something even more repulsing. McDonalds! Big Mac! Ah ha! Success! It in fact was so repulsing that we had one person refuse to participate because of it. We tried to make the burgers even more messy by putting extra ketchup on all the burgers. I will put a picture of the end result up soon.

The first project that we had "assigned" to us was the creation of a sound. The process that we went through wasn't really a process. If there is even such a thing as process in generative art. Process to me sounds like something that is a planned out way of inventing a creation. Really all we did was take an object and experiment with it. I guess some could argue that the unplanned experimentation was a process in itself. But ...... I'm getting off track. We took a massager that vibrates....ah!ah!ah! I hear all those dirty minds thinking. This is art! Be serious. ehem. We did different things to manipulate the movement of it. Taping coins, spoons, even popsicle sticks to the top of the massager. In the end we found that by taping coins to two of the three feet, the object tended to move more, hence hitting more glasses. Well and you all saw the rest.
